We are building a team for the 2014 Boston Marathon to support the city of Boston, for those whose lives were forever changed by last year’s tragedy, and to raise funds for CI and its mission to inspire the next generation of technology leaders from underserved communities.
We are very proud to have Dennis Crowley the CEO of FourSquare and Bijan Sabet of Spark Capital co-leading our team in 118th Boston Marathon on 21st April 2014 to benefit CampInteractive. Last year our team which received generous matching grants from Spark Capital and Gunderson Dettmer. That team included Dennis Crowley, Jason Jacobs the CEO of Runkeeper, and Joe Marchese the CEO of Socialvibe who together helped raise over $46,000 towards CI’s programs. This year’s goal is to raise at least $50,000 and we hope to raise much more.
With the funds raised in the 2013 Boston Marathon, CI was able to launch our summer internship program (SummerQAmp.org) in Boston. This program is a nationwide initiative which provides American youth with technology training, professional development, and experiential learning through a professional internship experience in quality assurance.
All money raised will go directly to funding technology education, experiential leadership experiences, and paid summer internships that will have a powerful impact on CI’s students’ potential to participate in the technology revolution.

Software and web development are today’s fastest growing industries. It is projected that jobs requiring computer programming skills will increase by 30% in the next 10 years. Unfortunately, 90% of American high schools do not offer computer programming classes. CI has been addressing this problem by providing undersrved high school students with opportunities to participate in technology education programs. Our training offers high schoolers a chance to develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills which they can carry into the workforce or college.
