We are Cincinnatians who are passionate about books, reading, and literacy. We want to insure that EVERYONE in our community has access to affordable, quality used books. We have two retail locations with one mission: supporting the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County.
Our flagship Used Book Store at the Warehouse is located in Hartwell and is the center of Friends' operations and planning. Here you will find approximately 100,000 books of every genre and variety. The Friends’ Shop is located in the Main Library Downtown, and delights customers with used books, thoughtful gifts, and artisan greeting cards. An army of dedicated volunteers serves within our walls and make the day-to-day operations of these two facilities possible. If our stores are the body, then our volunteers are the heartbeat.
Our customers rely on us not only for books, but also for a community space where relationships are fostered and skills are developed. Our book club and writers' group are well attended and continue to grow. We recently began hosting local author talks and have started a literary lecture series. The response has been overwhelming.
The money we generate from our book sales, gift shop sales, membership dues, grants, and recycling is funneled back into our community via Library services. We are proud to underwrite hundreds of Library programs, fund book acquisitions, finance new equipment, and advocate for the Library with state lawmakers in Columbus. We love our Library, and our mission is to help the Library succeed at its mission.
"A book is a gift you can open again and again." Garrison Keillor
