BENEFITING: The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp
EVENT: Team HITW NYC Marathon 2016
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
My 42km run in the NYC Marathon is inspired by The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp!
The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp organises camps, so that every year 30,000 children with serious illnesses & their families can get away from the day-to-day worries and have some fun together, just for a few days. The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp also organises 25,000 hospital visits with the same purpose: create a few moments of fun & friendship for kids who are seriously ill.
This is a great cause, and I hope that I can count on your support. Not just the moral support I will need to make it to the finish line. I am counting on your generosity to support this wonderful cause financially. My goal is to raise $3,000 - the cost of paying camp for one week.
Why am I doing this?
As a brand new New Yorker, I figure there can be no better way to explore the 5 boroughs and the majestic bridges that link them all than on foot. But that is not the end of the story.
Every day, I feel grateful to be Loren & Juline's mum. My two happy, healthy daughters are incredibly precious to me. I can only imagine what it means to a family to have a seriously ill child.
So when my alarm clock goes off every morning at 5:42am for my workout - 6 days a week - I think of the difference I can make to one child, and her mum. I keep on running so that a sick child can experience the happy memories we all treasure from the camps we went on as children.
You don't have to get up early, or pound the pavement. Just follow the link and be generous. Thanks in advance for your support!
