Generation Ubuntu (GenU) is an NGO based in Khayelitsha, the poorest township of South Africa. GenU provides holistic care for approximately 200 neglected children living with HIV. This care includes nutritious meals, social services, emotional and educational support, as well as necessary medical attention. This year, Generation Ubuntu is proud to be a Charity Partner of the Westchester Tri!
HIV is the leading cause of death in children under the age of 5 and 100% of the children in GenU's program have not only survived, but thrived, in a country where 680 people die of AIDS-related illnesses each day. Many children living with HIV have been orphaned, live in poverty, and are victims of abuse and bullying. The Generation Ubuntu program is becoming the GLOBAL model for every child living with HIV.
