New York City Critical Incident Response Team
Organized by: Andrew Klenzman
City C.I.R.T. serves the many personal and spiritual needs of the communities of New York City when they are in need of another person who will approach them without judgement and cares for them until the crisis moment is over. We aid people in any and all types of critical incidents. This could include giving rides to the hospital, helping a family plan a funeral, or just being there for them during the most difficult time of their life, whether it be related to gang violence, an accident, or any number of tragedies. We respect the people we serve, even though there may be profound differences in race, gender, economic status, and religious beliefs. City C.I.R.T. has members stationed across the city available to provide peer support to any individual and family members when needed. The team also includes mental health professionals, chaplains, and spouses. Designated team members, known as Regional Contacts, will activate the team when notified that a critical response has occurred and a response is needed. We are raising money so that we can better serve our community by giving our volunteers the supplies they need, things like walkie talkies, flashlights, uniforms, and an emergency vehicle. Things like this will help us make a positive impact on New York City and the world.
