City Island Rowing Ergathon
Team Member: Maggie Mandarano
EVENT DATE Dec 13, 2015
City Island Rowing would love your support to make sure that our team has the equipment necessary to achieve our dreams. It really is that simple. In order to keep our program fees as low as possible, our capital equipment is purchased from fundraising efforts like this one. Capital equipment includes rowing shells, oars, ergs, coach launches, trailer, etc. These are expensive items. A new Resolute 8+, for example, is made from high modulus carbon fibre and costs around $45,000.00 .
I chose City Island Rowing because I am passionate about my sport. To a person, the sport of rowing has had a profound positive effect. My team works exceptionally hard to be regionally, nationally and internationally competitive - along the way learning some of life's greatest lessons... that team work, hard work, discipline and sacrifice are the surest route achieving our goals.
I am thrilled that this ergathon is driven by the athletes themselves. Each athlete will seek out donations and sponsorships in support of our upcoming "ergathon", Sunday December 13th. Each athlete will row for 90 minutes on the indoor rowing machine (erg), and will likely rack up between 15,000 m and 20,000 m during this time. Sponsorships are per 1000m rowed. Donations are a fixed amount regardless of how long I row.
Thank you so much for your contribution!
