Alexa is a great friend to Citymeals, having volunteered regularly for over three years and attended numerous events with Citymeals Young Professionals. This year Alexa decided to do something bigger than volunteer: “Running a marathon has always been on my bucket list but this past year I felt that I needed to do more for Citymeals. The marathon is the ultimate test and commitment to Citymeals and the people they serve,” she says. We are so grateful for friends like Alexa. This will be her first marathon and she won’t lie in telling you that she’s a little scared. Alexa is the oldest of four girls who all think she is crazy for attempting the marathon.
Citymeals on Wheels provides a continuous lifeline of nourishing meals and vital companionship to homebound elderly New Yorkers in need, helping them to live with dignity in their own familiar homes and communities. Runners who participate in the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon help raise both fund and awareness, crucial to the success of Citymeals' mission of providing over 2 million meals to more than 18,000 homebound elderly New Yorkers each year.
