THANK YOU!!! With your support and encouragement, I made it!

Please join me in supporting citizen service at a time when there may be no more important way we can impact the way future generations participate in our democracy.
I'm running in the 2017 Boston Marathon to raise money for my favorite organization: City Year. I've been a volunteer and fundraiser for the organization since 1989, and I believe deeply in the impact City Year has on the students it serves, the communities in which it operates, and on the corps members who spend a year or two learning about the what it means to be an active, engaged citizen.
I've been inspired by City Year's mission. And I have seen how effectively City Year has put its mission to work. That's why I am so deeply committed to the organization's success.
City Year corps members come from a wide variety of backgrounds and work in high-need and high-risk communities. They bridge the gap between the support that students need and what their schools are designed to provide. City Year corps members work to increase graduation rates and impact the lives of the students by focusing on school attendance, classroom and out-of-class behavior, and course performance.
In Boston, City Year's AmeriCorps members work with more than 10,000 students in grades three through nine in the neediest Boston schools. They serve as tutors, mentors, and role models for the students. The City Year experience not only helps the students in the schools, but also trains a generation of corps members to be active citizens in our democracy.
