BENEFITING: The CJ Foundation for SIDS, Inc.
ORGANIZER: The CJ Foundation for SIDS, Inc.
My husband and I lost our first child, Collin to SIDS. This profound loss is one that I don't wish on anyone. He was a happy, healthy four month old, whose smile and giggle will be forever etched in my memory. Though, there is a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.
Over the years I have struggled to find what I can do to honor his memory and to make a positive impact on others as a result of our tradegy. I have participated in research, volunteered as a bereavement contact with CJ First Candle and with the SID Network of Ohio. As a lifelong runner, I saw this opportunity and knew THIS is where I can make an impact. In fact, I received the email that I could run for CJ First Candle in his honor while standing on a trail in Sedona, Arizona, which is where we spent our last weekend with our first born son, as he died in daycare the following week.
CJ First candle is important to us as this is where we turned when he passed away. We needed support and information, needed to know research and what to do next. They are a compassionate organization with a goal I believe in whole heartedly.
I pray that with your donation to honor Collin, CJ First Candle can fund the research that will help us understand why this healthy child died and to continue to support other families who have to withstand and endure this unimaginable loss.
Thank you so much for supporting us and this organization. I will be running every mile of this amazing marathon remembering pushing Collin in the stroller on our runs during his short life, and your tremendous generosity.

CJ Foundation for SIDS is now CJ First Candle! Each year in the United States, over 4,000 babies die from SIDS and SUID, and over 24,000 babies are delivered stillborn. SIDS is the leading cause of death among babies between 1 month and 1 year of age. 100% of the proceeds from the TCS New York City Marathon Charity Program will benefit our mission of eliminating SIDS, SUID, and Stillbirth through education, advocacy, and research while providing compassionate support to bereaved families.
