Center for Jewish Genetics via Crowdrise
December 11, 2013
1 in 4 Jews is a carrier of a genetic disorder. The Center provides highly subsidized genetic counseling and carrier screening. Carriers are generally healthy but their children may be at risk for a life-shortening disease--a simple blood test helps assess this risk. The Center for Jewish Genetics being there for people during and after their screening is a lifeline. The Center's genetic counselor helps people navigate what their screening results mean, and answers all the questions for which they just don't have the answers. Many of the Center's screening particpants have said that without this subsidized resource they would not have been able to afford counseling and screening.
