BENEFITING: INTERNATIONAL SURGICAL HEALTH INITIATIVES INC
EVENT DATE: Sep 17, 2015
I am excited and proud to tell you that this September, I will be joining a medical mission to Ghana with the International Surgical Health Initiative (ISHI). ISHI is a 501(3)(c) non- profit charitable organization in the US and a federally registered charity in Canada. It consists of a group of talented and dedicated medical professionals that organize missions to medically underserved areas all over the world. During our 10 day mission the group is planning to perform 50 to 70 surgeries on patients that may not otherwise have access to the level of care they deserve. Another primary goal of our mission is to help empower local medical professionals to be self-sustaining through providing education and training. It also helps build relationships between our countries.
This is ISHI’s fourth mission to Ghana where we will be working out of Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital (TQMH), a 123 bed hospital serving a population of 120,000 in the region. I am so excited to have to opportunity to work with this amazing group and to help in any way that I can. As a medical student I will be able to work side by side with the surgeons and other medical professionals assisting in both the operating room as well as the day to day activities of the mission. I hope to be able to use the medical knowledge/skills that I have learned so far in my education to help the medical professionals and patients at TQMH.
I hope you will consider making a donation to help further our impact. All of the volunteers pay our own way and any donations we solicit go towards the purchase of medical supplies and equipment, as well as our travel expenses. Please check out the ISHI website (www.ISHIGlobal.org) to learn more about this dynamic organization. You will note that 93% of the donations go directly to the mission and your generosity is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration. A donation of any amount will greatly help our cause. Again, thank you so much!! I will post plenty of pictures of Ghana!
