BENEFITING: Chicago Legal Advocacy for Incarcerated Mothers
Thanks to a generous donor, any donations made in BEFORE JUNE 25 totaling up to $2,500 will be AUTOMATICALLY DOUBLED! So please give now and give generously to help us make our $12,000 goal by June 30!
Please consider making a gift in honor of CLAIM's past work and the very bright future we’re looking forward to in partnership with Cabrini Green Legal Aid (CGLA). It is imperative that we raise these funds in order to continue assisting women and families like Yolanda's across the state:
Our client Yolanda has been through a lot in her life, including domestic violence and addiction - but perhaps nothing has been harder than becoming incarcerated for possession of a controlled substance and losing custody of her children.
After prison, Yolanda was committed to getting her children back. She entered drug treatment. She took classes and found employment. She complied with all the steps that were required of her, but it was never enough. Her criminal record was always a shadow behind her, following her with every step.
CLAIM took Yolanda's case and represented her in court. Finally, after years of legal battles, Yolanda's children were officially returned to her.
In Yolanda's own words, "Without meeting CLAIM, my life would never have changed. CLAIM just never gave up on me. Not only did they support me, but they emotionally helped me, too. There were times when I just didn't know if I could make it, but CLAIM was there. It makes me cry, but there was never anyone in my life who believed in me like CLAIM did."
We are encouraged by Yolanda's words and by the hundreds of stories we hear every day of the year from women who want to maintain bonds with their children. The women may have made missteps, but have never wavered in their commitment to being good mothers.
Won't you join us in supporting these women and their families by supporting the organization that remains dedicated to providing legal and educational services to maintain the bonds between incarcerated and formerly incarcerated mothers and their children?
Please consider making a tax-deductable contribution to CLAIM today to help us build strong families and strong futures for women across the state of Illinois.
