As scientific studies continue to indicate increases in average global temperatures, and sea levels continue to rise due to melting glaciers and ice caps, the world has reached a critical moment with regard to greenhouse gas emissions and its effects on climate change. Because it is imperative that the international community find a way to reduce its reliance on carbon emitting energy sources, some scholars have suggested that developed nations should focus more heavily on nuclear power. This summer, I will be managing a project to bring together international organizations to address the urgent needs of Island nations like Kiribati and Maldives, which have been devastated by climate change, yet largely ignored by the world community. Proceeds will go towards a feature documentary and policy proposals designed to address the needs of the smaller nations.
