Thank you for continuing to cheer our bright, spunky, big-hearted Clara along her journey to fight and beat Juvenile Dermatomyositis. She was diagnosed in September, 2016 with JDM, which is a rare autoimmune disease where her body's immune system attacks it's very own tissue including the muscles and skin. Sadly, there is no cure for the disease and no FDA approved drugs to specifically treat it. The good news is that medicine is progressing and treatments are improving, but we need to continue to fund research and educate doctors on how to identify the disease. We are incredibly thankful for CureJM and the work they are conducting to do just that. Ultimately they and we want to find a CURE!! We don’t want Clara and other kids like her to have to battle this disease their whole lives. Will you help support us by joining our team and/or making a donation so progress to find a cure continues!?! We hope to see you and your family and friends at the walk in May! See below for more information.
What is Walk Strong?
Walk Strong to Cure JM supports Cure JM's mission is to find a cure for Juvenile Myositis. Juvenile Myositis (JM) is a life-threatening disease which causes the body’s own immune system to attack healthy cells and tissues. It can cause pain, weakness, inability to walk and disfigurement. It can affect virtually any system of the body, the heart, lungs, skin, muscles, and more (www.curejm.org/info/jm.php). But with support from friends and family like you, we’re getting closer to better treatments and a cure. Last year, CureJM was able to fund research at 10 prestigious research institutions, helping to advance JM research at an unprecedented pace -- including important JM research right here in Chicago at Lurie Children's! Your gift now will keep that momentum going. Every donation goes straight to Cure JM, and over 91% of all funds raised go directly to research.
