BENEFITING: Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech
ORGANIZER: Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Dearest Friends -
This year, I am running the ING NYC Marathon on behalf of Mila Albarran and the Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech.
Mila is the darling new born daughter of my close friends Anya and Stephen Albarran. She is beautiful, charming, and gives the most amazing smiles that make you shake your head in wonder. Shortly after she was born, her parents discovered that Mila had sensorineural profound bilateral hearing loss. While this has left her deaf, and any individual would feel lost in such a situation, the love and strengh of her parents to provide an unparalleld life for her has left me in awe. Part of giving Mila the best has been to enroll her in The Clarke School.
Clarke children use cochlear implants and hearing aids to maximize their access to sound. From infancy through their teen years, they prepare them for a world of limitless possibilities. Clarke children listen and learn in the classroom, run and laugh with friends, have lives filled with music, sports, family and community. Many are ready to attend their neighborhood mainstream schools by kindergarten. Clarke will provide Mila with all the tools and skills that will help her grow up to lead a normal and beautiful life.
As you all know, I've found a recent love for running (a shock for all who knew me pre-26 years old) and I would love to put that to work to support a cause I feel deeply passionate about. I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to support Mila and the Clarke School and I hope you will be my partner in this great cause.
Much love and appreciation,
