Claudio Figueroa's funeral services
Organized by: alejandra figueroa
A Dad is supposed to be there for the heavy lift. He is the first to arrive and the last to go in crunch time. His support has no waver in it; there is no ambiguity about his feelings. He somehow makes the world less scary. A good father is somehow just THERE, always, a reassuring presence — even when he’s not there anymore. 5000 miles away from here is a Father just like this, his name is Claudio Figueroa, an iron fence maker. Every year since he was married way back then, he spent just about every waking hour moving iron bars from his truck to the yards and built the fences, pausing every few seconds to make sure they looked just right. Though this is how he took care of his family for decades, it is also the hand that will take his life away. Little did Claudio know that each day he walked out the door doing what he loved, doing what supported his family, will also take him away. I bet even if he still knew what was to come way back then, he would still do it, because that what Dad’s do, they take care of their Family at any cost. Claudio Figueroa has Lung Cancer now, most likely from the years of breathing in the fumes of welding the iron bars together and prognosis is very bad. In fact he may not have years but weeks or even days. His wife and children will never learn the full extent of it - because it had already spread to other organs but he has decided, clearly and emphatically, that this was the end of his life and now is the time for good byes. My wife is suddenly facing the death of a Patriarch of their family. I personally never had a chance to meet him, being over 5000 miles away, but I have the most beloved respect for a man like Claudio, a man who took care of his Family, and raised a beautiful caring and loving woman whom I am married to. I know there will be many expenses in the coming weeks, and words of encouragement during this difficult time can mean the world and any financial help in saying a farewell to a Father is greatly appreciated.
