Hello family and friends!
I am very excited to announce that I have just accepted a volunteer-based fellowship with a non-profit organization called Saha Global. I will be traveling to Ghana to establish a clean water system in a rural village near the city of Tamale. From December 28th to January 18th, I will be facilitating local women in installing and operating a water purification business that will provide clean drinking water to the entire village. One particularly awesome statistic about Saha is that, out of the 78 water businesses that they have started, 100% are still running today. I am proud to be working with an organization that is positively affecting so many human lives with their sustainable business/philanthropic model. It is thrilling to me to have an opportunity to work with a non-profit in this setting, as it directly aligns with my degree and what I would love to do after college. All of you guys know that I will never last at a desk job, so I’m hoping this could give me some solid experience in an area that inspires me.
Why I need your help:
While I am very grateful to have received a generous scholarship of $2,000 from the department of Biological Systems Engineering here at Virginia Tech, I still have a ways to go to financially make this trip a reality. There is a program fee of $2,950 that goes towards all the materials needed in order to manufacture the system itself (ie. storage tanks, taps, chlorine tablets, etc.). In addition to the program fee, I need to raise money for my airfare in order to get myself to Tamale. With your help I am hoping to raise an additional $2,300 by December 5th, which would go directly towards providing these people with the basic human right of access to clean drinking water. It would be my sincere honor to bring this change with the help of all of my loved ones. Any donation whether it be monetary, or just positive wishes will be so GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for all the help getting me where I am today!
If you do wish to donate and prefer writing a check you can put my full name in the memo and send it directy to Saha at:
PO Box 225342
San Francisco, CA 94122-5342
I would be pumped to answer any questions you may have about all of this, so feel free to contact me!
Also feel free to check out Saha's website: http://sahaglobal.org/what-we-do/water-businesses/
The word “Saha” means opportunity in Northern Ghana’s local language of Dagboni, and I am super grateful for you all helping me take this opportunity to help others.
