Clean Water for Cuba
Organized by: Kevin Morrisey
EVENT DATE Nov 13, 2014
Clean drinking water is something we often take for granted in the United States. In Cuba clean drinking water is not always available. Waterborne diseases can be prevalent in drinking water.
Living in Faith is a ministry with projects that provide clean drinking water through building water purification systems in church facilities in Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. The systems help prevent diseases such as typhoid fever, hepatitis, amoebic and bacillary dysenteries, giardiasis, and other gastrointestinal infections in people. The systems are installed in churches that agree to operate them and to provide water to anyone in the community that has a need. The purification equipment is sent from the US and other supplies are purchased within the country. Living in Faith provides the technical team to properly install and train the people in the use, maintenance of the system, and water quality monitoring. Each system can produce over 300 gallons per hour of safe drinking water. The clean drinking water also brings people to the churches which gives the churches an opportunity to minister to and serve them.
I am a civil engineer and have had the opportunity to work on infrastructure and environmental projects throughout my career. From these experiences I have learned the importance of having safe drinking water. I am blessed to have the opportunity to serve others using the skills the Lord has given me by assisting with the installation of the water purification systems. My church, Franklin Christian Church (FCC), in Franklin, Tennessee is partnering with Living in Faith to install several systems in November.
I am reaching out to the community for assistance with raising funds for the trip. If you would like to learn more about Living in Faith, please visit their website at Livinginfaith.net. If you would like to learn more about FCC and how we serve with both local and world missions, please visit our website at franklinchristianchurch.com.
The Lord said the second greatest commandment is to, "Love your neighbor as yourself". Matthew 22:39 This is an opportunity to show our neighbors to the south that we love them.
Please pray about donating to help with the trip and for those who are traveling. I appreciate your consideration and support.
May you be blessed by the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth. Psalm 115:15
Thank you and God Bless,
