EVENT DATE: Jun 30, 2012
I am hoping that you will be able to help with a project that will be critically important to young men at Bellwood Elementary which is a school outside of Richmond that is quite demographically disadvantaged - there are many single parent homes with lack of resources for anything more than the basic necessities.
Brian Foutz, who was my son's football coach for several years, has agreed to coach the county league football team for Bellwood. I spoke with Brian this morning and the young men do not have cleats or shirts that will be necessary to play football. Brian and his fellow coaches have been fundraising for basic practice and safety equipment for the team but many parents simply do not have the money to purchase cleats and shirts. Brian does not want any young man to not be able to play because of money and he is reaching out to his friends for help.
Brian is a good man that will be an influence of discipline and pride for these young men and doing this as a volunteer only to provide caring mentorship for young men that may not have this available in their lives.
I want to help and in addition to a contribution, I wanted to reach out to others that may have a network to assist. I am hoping to raise $1,000 that will be necessary to provide for all players - with any remaining funds helping with acitivies that provide interaction and mentorship off the football field.
If this resonates with you, would you consider a contribution or could you provide guidance on opportunities to secure funds for the team?
It is quite easy some days to forget how truly blessed we are and this morning, I was reminded.
