Climate Journey is a slow, intentional biking journey from New England, USA to Paris for COP21, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in late November. Partnering with Morgan Curtis, we will kick off the pavement in June 2015, heading north and east, through New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to Newfoundland, hopping over to Greenland (home of the most visible effects of climate change), Iceland, and to Scandinavia before biking across eastern Europe to Paris.
We bike to listen. To listen to people and their stories - of climate change impacts, adaptation successes, mitigation efforts, and continued fossil fuel extraction, all while grappling with what it means to have a voice in international negotiations and the global grassroots climate movement. I will be the visual communication arm of the journey, using photos, videos, collages, drawings, and other forms of expression to communicate our journey.
This journey will only be possible with the generous support of many kinds - logistical, financial, and emotional - each important in their own way. Here I am dealing with the financial support needed for this journey. Hopefully, through the generous support of friends, family, past co-workers, and fellow climate activists, I can fund my budget of $10,000 and be able to be fully focused on the journey once it starts. I cannot wait to share this journey with you.
