BENEFITING: KEVIN TURNER FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Jan 17, 2014
In May 2010, former Univ. of Alabama and NFL fullback Kevin Turner was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Since forming The Kevin Turner Foundation that same year, KT has become a leading advocate in the fight against ALS and its connection to brain injury. Kevin emerged as a prominent figure in the historic NFL concussion lawsuit, but the fight is far from over for the thousands that suffer from this terrible disease.
In March of 2014, a team of nine climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to raise money and awareness for The Kevin Turner Foundation. I was one of the climbers. On January 17, 2015, I will be returning to Africa to make the climb again in an effort to keep the momentum going and to continue to support this important cause.
The Kevin Turner Foundation and its mission is especially important to me as Kevin is a close family friend. I hope to see a cure found for ALS in Kevin's lifetime.
The Ice Bucket Challenge initiative has made huge strides in raising funds to help find a cure for ALS. If you are still looking for a place to donate, look no further! 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the foundation AND, if I reach my goal, I'll perform the ultimate Ice Bucket Challenge at 19,341 feet!
