I started stair climbing in 2012. I did a few climbs with my then 7 year old son just to see if we could make it to the top. Together we climbed the Sears Tower , the Chicago Aon, the John Hancock and the U.S. Bank Bldg in LA. I started doing more and more climbs over the past few years. Each climb supports a difference charity: American Lung Association, Children's Hospitals, Cancer, First Responders etc. I started doing more climbs out of state and I met a lot of friend people who are into stair climbing as well. Besides the charity and fundraising aspect of stair climbing, there is also the physical endurance and conditioning aspect too. When I started stair climbing, my weight was anywhere from 245-260. I know weigh 205/210 and I've kept my weight at this for over two years. In 2014, I did the Dallas 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. This is 110 floor stair climb in full police or fire gear in remembrance of 9/11. I have also climb the new 1 World Trade Center twice for an organization called Tunnel to Towers ( T2T raises money to build smart home for catastrophically injured military veterans. Now the reason for this fundraising effort....this year i will be participating in three Tunnel to Towers climb. They are in Charlotte NC, Tampa Fl, and Atlanta GA. I will be climbing in the elite category first then I will be climbing a second time in full police uniform/gear. I will also be bagpiping the opening ceremony of each climb. I have bagpiped many other opening ceremonies of other climbs. In August, I will be competing in the stair race of the LA 2017 World Police Fire Games. This is like the Olympics for Police and Fire from around the world. See for more info. In Sept, I will be returning to Texas for two 9/11 stair climbs. On 09Sep17, Dallas has their 9/11 Climb and on 10Sep17, Ft. Worth has a 9/11 climb too. Both are 110 floor and will be climbed in full uniform/gear. I will also be bagpiping both of these events too. All of these climbs have out of pocket expenses: registration fees, minimum fundraising requirements and travel costs. I am hoping to alleviate some of my out of pocket costs so I can continue to do these events.
