Volunteering at Clinica for the past 7 months of medical school gave me the chance to meet community members, practice history-taking skills, and learn first-hand from the nurses, doctors and navegantes about health issues that affect our community.
We can all support our neighbors' health together so donate NOW to this wonderful cause. Every dollar makes a difference and will help care for our patients!
Legend of the marathon has it that in 490 B.C, the illustrious Greek warrior Pheidippides ran 26.2 miles from the battlefield to town and delivered the message "Niki!" ("victory").
I believe he was calling my name. JK! :)
Running a marathon has been on my list of "25 things to do before I'm 25" and it is exciting to see this goal so close in sight. The Cox Providence Marathon is my first marathon. I am new to running and have hated running up to January of this year. My aim is to complete the course in under 5.5 hours. I have been training since October, running an average of 30-40 miles every week even braving the wintry wrath of Nemo! My longest runs have been around 21 miles. Running and training has taught me so many valuable life lessons, that sound cheesy when typed out but definitely ask me about them in person. I've learned to be patient, make healthier choices, live in the moment, and amuse my mind when I know I will be running the same path three hours later.
I've heard that running for a purpose can help you get through the whole race and actually enjoy it so this run is dedicated to an organization that I hold dear to my heart.
Together, with your support, we can help achieve a greater vision of Health and Hope for Clinica Esperanza!
