In support of Task Force Dagger Foundation and National PTSD Awareness Day on June 27, 2016, I plan to stand up paddle from Portsmouth Naval Hospital, VA to Knott's Island, NC via the Elizabeth and North Landing Rivers. My goal is to complete this in 18 hours and in doing so, raise awareness and funding for Task Force Dagger Foundation and their mission! After retiring as a SOCOM Army Veteran, I was diagnosed with PTSD and severe depression. I have always been an outdoorsman and found myself mostly on the mountains skiing or kayaking. After retiring and living a stones throw from the ocean, I have since found a passion for being in the saltwater. Whether SUPing or surfing, it has helped me cope with my PTSD and depression. More so than with professional counseling alone. It has also increased my motivation to become more health conscious and less abusive on my body caused from the negative habits I exercised to cope before. I believe that what Task Force Dagger Foundation provides for people, like me, can change lives! Any support to help me reach my goal of $10,000.00, so that the foundation can continue to help those affected, is appreciated.
