“SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT TO SAVE THE WORLD & HIV/AIDS AWARENESS”
We are world tour cyclists from Nepal traveling around the world by bicycle to spread the message of " SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT TO SAVE THE WORLD" & " HIV AIDS AWARENESS". We have a plan to travel 100 countries in 5 years to spread this message of goodwill.
We need your help and support to complete our journey of spreading awareness.
It is a universal phenomenon of nature that a human being takes birth in this world and dies ultimately. When one is born in this earth, one should contribute in some way for the welfare of the human beings and mother earth so as to make life meaningful. So, with this thought and belief in our mind and hearts, we are embarking on our voyage of “World Bicycle Tour”. We three are friends as well as relatives but the most important thing is our similar thought and vision that united us to begin our journey together.
Environmental dilapidation has become a devastating reality for our entire planet. Various catastrophic situations are created which the world itself sometimes seems incapable of facing. In this point of crisis, with firm confidence and determination, we believe that a small step from our side to spread awareness and understanding for the protection/conservation of natural environment, would bring about a positive change. It is important for people to understand that the environment is like one of our vital organs. If we can save our environment then, only, we can save ourselves and the dignity of human beings. To save the world and give chance of a good future, we must cope and move together with the environment and the nature. It is an era of renaissance to save our own home from human recklessness. It is our duty.
Another important yet unsolved issue: HIV/AIDS - which is creating a terrible circumstance in the present world. Due to debasing social norms and values, unsafe sex and ineffective sex education, cross-cultural dimensions and lack of awareness amongst people, HIV/AIDS has been skyrocketing. As a consequence, too many human beings are suffering and perishing daily. The main reason is the lack of understanding and awareness. It is crucial for people to know- What is HIV/AIDS? What is the history? How can it be prevented? How does and doesn’t it spread or communicate? Etc. If we are able to deliver such information to the communities and people around the world, we can save many precious lives from HIV infection.
“After graduating from medical school, I served at a government hospital in Nepal for 2 years. Besides, I have been conducting Free Medical Camps and awareness programs regarding sanitation, hygiene and other health issues at my own community and in different remote villages of Nepal in collaboration with local NGOs and INGOs. During the aftermath of devastating earthquake of 25th April 2015 in Nepal, I along with other members of Dirghayu Nepal (a local NGO) visited many affected villages to treat and supply basic relief materials to the victims. It was a very happy moment for me to help those people but on the other hand I clearly felt the pain and sadness of those miserable villagers. In course of these activities, a thought came into my mind that not only in my country, I must deliver a message to the whole world and share my knowledge and understanding. In this way, I aim to start this journey.

“A decade ago, I travelled 10 countries by bicycle with the purpose of delivering a message and spreading awareness to the world. Amid the mission, my grandmother passed away. I came back for funeral ceremony and other rituals due to which my journey was left uncompleted. After that, I got myself involved in various organizations to do social work in villages of Nepal. Now, I’m very happy that I am starting my journey again with a team of similar thought so as to continue spreading the message to the world.”
-----Mr. Shankar Poudel
April 2016 Update: Shankar had to leave the tour and return to Nepal due to an ailing family member. His determined spirit is still with the team!
“I was born and brought up in a city area, but still very rich in natural resources. City of 7 lakes, beautiful rivers and falls, my birthplace Pokhara, including Fewa Lake and green forests all around, I find myself very lucky that I had the chance to know and understand nature from very close. As the days pass by, I can clearly sense the lakes being polluted and deforestation everywhere which compels me to cry from inside my heart. Compelled to make a change, I formed local groups/clubs and started cleaning campaigns, awareness programs and tree plantations in my community. I consider that if a small city like mine is facing such problem, then what about the rest of the world? So, with this thought in mind, I started this journey to deliver this message and make people aware and inspired for the preservation of our environment.”
