EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
For my first major running endeavor, I'm excited to be training alongside such a committed team and under the guidance of Coach Don Megerle. The Tufts Marathon Team (TMT) is running to support nutrition, medical, and fitness programs at Tufts University, including research on childhood obesity at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.
TMT is the largest known collegiate marathon program in the United States, and I'm honored to be a part of the team. Even with training under way, 26.2 miles still seems like quite a long way to run. I did some calculations to help wrap my mind around this adventure. Running the marathon is roughly the equivalent of:
-Running from the Fletcher School dorms to Mike's Pastry in downtown Boston... back and forth.... twice.
-Running from the White House all the way to Dulles Airport (no suitcase necessary)
-Making a wide loop from Tian'anman Square to the Summer Palace in Beijing, then stopping for a cold pijiu in Sanlitun, and ending up at my favorite chuanr/kebab joint in Beixinqiao area, Beijing
All this to say, I'm pushing myself to complete this marathon, and I'm looking forward to getting this thing done. It'll be one more adventure off my bucket list... leaving room for my next goal: climbing Aconcagua.
If you're interested in supporting a great cause and helping to keep me motivated as the training runs get increasingly longer, please consider making a gift online, right on this page. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can mail in the pledge form to pay by check or credit card offline.
