EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
Most people are (pleasantly) surprised when I tell them I'm training for a marathon. I shock my friends each time I mention an early morning run or training session, or that yes, in fact, we do run in the snow, rain, and ice, but to me, it's no surprise that I'm doing this.
This experience has been like none I've ever had. From debating classes to take with teammates on a long run, drinking slushie Gatorade on a frozen training day, or even Coach Don passing out candy after sprints, I can safely say training for the marathon has been one of my best decisions in college.
So why do I do this? Not only do I enjoy running and showing off my Tufts pride, but I love the larger goals, too. By running with the TMT, I am hoping to raise $1,500 to support nutrition, medical and wellness programs at Tufts, including research on childhood obesity at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. To give you an idea of the magnitude of this program: the team raised $565,290 last year, and since its inception in 2003, the TMT has raised more than $3,572,629.
Any questions? Contact Coach Don at Donald.Megerle@Tufts.edu
Any support you can provide the team and this great cause would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
