Thank you for your interest in supporting me (be it financially and/or encouragingly) as I prepare for this run! Each year, 100 runners make the journey from Hopkinton to Boston to support nutrition, medical, and fitness programs at Tufts University, including research on childhood obesity at the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy.
The Tufts Marathon Team (TMT) is the largest known collegiate marathon program in the United States, attracting runners from around the country.
During the 2012 marathon season, the team raised $565,290. Since its inception in 2003, the TMT has raised more than $3,572,629.
Since graduating from Tufts in 2010, I have been working at Mount Sinai Hospital, in New York City as part of a team that works with patients who have suffered strokes. For these patients, obesity is a risk factor for recurrence of this terribly life-changing health threat. Aware of obesity's deadly consequences, I am enthusiastic about the positive impact research (funded by the Boston marathon) can make on people's health.
By running the Boston marathon with the TMT, my goal is also to encourage others to stay active. I've never been a runner, yet I enjoy walking a lot, which has served me well as I train to run these 26 and change miles.
Thank you for reading and I ask you to please support this cause through me, as I run the 2013 marathon by making a gift online. If you prefer, you can mail in the pledge form to pay by check or credit card offline.
If you have any questions about the Tufts Marathon Team, please contact Coach Don Megerle at email@example.com.
