EVENT: 2013 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 15, 2013
Something about the Boston Marathon, and the Tufts Marathon Team in particular, keeps drawing me back in. Through the countless miles of training - on cold winter nights, through pouring rain, and up seemingly endless hills - it's the smiles and cheers and feeling of accomplishment that make it all worth it. Having a coach like Don Megerle makes the mental anguish and physical toil seem small, and having friends and family supporting me fires me up to get out the door and start running.
This will be my 5th time running the Boston Marathon. Slightly side-tracked by last year's unprecedented weather during the Marathon, I am again chasing my personal goal of qualifying for the Marathon by running the 26.2 miles in under 3 hours and 5 minutes.
I am running as part of the Tufts Marathon Team for many reasons. For the comraderie and guidance provided by the coaches and teammates, for the pride of representing Tufts. But most importantly, for the opportunity to help raise money for a great cause by doing something I love. By running for the TMT, I hope to raise $5,000 in support of nutrition, medical and wellness programs at Tufts University, including research on childhood obesity through the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts. I know that this money goes to many great causes sponsored by Tufts, and last year I was able to raise over $1,500! I hope to raise much more this year and would greatly appreciate any help you might be able to offer. As a group, the TMT and I raised over $500,000 in total last year, and to date the TMT has raised more than $3,500,000.
I would greatly appreciate any donation you can make online. If you prefer, you can mail in the paper pledge form to pay by check or credit card the ol' fashion way.
Thank you so much, Go Jumbos!
