EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2014
Hello! We are SEPHA Sustainability, Education, and Preventive Health through Nutrition Abroad a group formed by the former president of the Student Dietetic Association at California State University, Los Angeles. Our school is also a Chapter of the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC). We have invited you here to help us raise funds to provide the FIMRC clinic in Huancayo, Peru. S.A. with much needed medical supplies.
The clinic often runs low on supplies that are readily available to people in the United States but are very hard to come by in Nicaragua. These supplies include Clorox wipes, tongue depressors, alcohol swabs, plastic Ziploc bags, and many medications and vitamins. 100% of your donation will go towards purchasing these supplies. By funding something as small as a box of alcohol swabs, you are contributing to improving the health of well deserving children in a BIG way.
Our goal is to also send upto 11 nutrition students to Peru this summer to help with the countries increasing chronic non-factious ailments. Peru is still a developing country and among its poorest populations or most affected is its rural indegenous children and adults. They currently suffer from malnurtion, disease and aliments due to hygien, diabetes, hypertension, and obesity along with the usually infectious diseases found in developing countries.
We are asking for your help to help us bring supplies and help educate the community of Huancayo on healthy practices and preventive health through nutrition. Our goal is to provide lactation classes, food safety, diabetes, and clinical nutrition therapy education along with establishing a sustainable means for the community to continue well after we leave.
As a Chapter of FIMRC, we help to serve as a voice in our community and play a part in upholding the mission of FIMRC. In June we are sending a group of members to the clinic, where adequate health care is lacking and children are dying from preventable or treatable diseases such as diarrhea, respiratory disease, and malnutrition. We are hoping to have collected enough money by the time we go on the volunteer trip to purchase and bring the supplies with us.
FIMRC is an organization dedicated to improving pediatric and maternal health in the developing world through the implementation of innovative and self-sustainable health improvement programs. Through determination and the belief that all children deserve health, FIMRC declares itself as a major force in the delivery of healthcare worldwide – one clinic and one child at a time.
We thank you immensely for helping us reach our goal and in spreading knowledge and medicine to this amazing effort. Thank you for taking the time to read about our mission and visiting our donation page!
