I am raising money to vastly expand the math classroom libraries of my school. I have spent the last two years working as a 6th grade math teacher in a Title I public school (95% poverty rate) in Brooklyn, NY. This experience has taught me many things and I will be forever grateful for the amazing (although at times, hormonal) students that have found a permanent place in my heart. Sadly, this experience has also taught me that my students are not as valued in our society's budgeting. We lack the resources to provide the engaging, thought-provoking literature that will help our students conceptually understand math. I love my students, I love math, and I want my students to love math--this goal, even if it's not achieved, will help my students grow into the mathematicians I know they can be. Math is everywhere and everything. It is what our children need to be successful personally and professionally. Please help. Thank you.
