BENEFITING: The Mercy Maternity House, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Apr 16, 2016
I will be running the Chickamauga Chase 5k and fundraising to support the organization Mercy Maternity House.
Mercy House is a nonprofit organization that exists to engage, empower, and disciple women around the globe. The primary work of Mercy House is to fund the work of two maternity homes just outside of Nairobi, Kenya, that rescue abused pregnant teen girls; help them have their babies and support them with education and job training until they graduate from the program. Since opening the first home in 2010, more than 50 teen moms and their babies have been helped. The secondary work of Mercy House is empowering women around the globe by buying fair trade products and selling these items in monthly subscription boxes. The subscription box club is called Fair Trade Friday (fairtradefriday.club). It currently has over 1200 monthly subscribers and has helped over 1000 women in 15 different countries through income generation.
This fundraiser serves to help secure financial support needed for operational expenses for Mercy House.
Act Justly. Love Mercy. Run Humbly.
