BENEFITING: Catholic Memorial School
ORGANIZER: Catholic Memorial School
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
I am so honored to run this Boston Marathon for Catholic Memorial School. I did not attend CM, but I also went to a small private high school where I was given the opportunity to succeed as a student-athlete. I was recruited to my dream school to run for UConn, and I would not have been able to do this if I did not have the financial support Fontbonne gave me. Now that I am the Director of Annual Giving at CM, I see how our students benefit from our devoted faculty and coaches to succeed as a young individual. There are so many young men who want to go to CM but cannot attend because of financial reasons. Every student deserves the same level of attention, and I hope by running 26.2 miles, I can make this possible for our students.
This will be my fourth Boston Marathon including my first Boston Marathon in 2013 after the marathon bombings. Unfortunately, I was waiting for my brother and sister to finish when the first explosion occurred directly across the street from me. It was the worst day in Boston and in my own life. The outpour of support from family, friends and the community was the only way we could all get through it, and I especially remember the support from the CM community. CM students and faculty responded and demonstrated their support to Boston, especially for my uncle, Tommy Meagher, who was also at the finish line that day. CM students responded when Boston needed help, will you show the same response to our students in need?
Thank you so much in advance for everyone’s donation. I am so blessed to have such wonderful support and to run for CM Strong!
