BENEFITING: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area
EVENT DATE: May 04, 2014
Do you have a mentor? Did you have one growing up?
That person you can't imagine your life without, who shaped your life in a positive way? Then please help by supporting our walkathon and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area.
We are walking the San Francisco coastline from Land's End to Crissy Field to raise awareness and funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area. There are 712 kids on our waitlist, hoping to become a Little. It costs $2500 for our professionally trained staff to create a match between a Big and a Little, and $1000 per year to maintain each match. We hope to raise $200,000, enough to pay for 80 littles to be matched. We also hope to find 712 Bigs out there!
No one should have to wait to find a mentor. Please help today!
- We serve 1,000 kids in the Bay Area, but want to grow to serve 2,000
- There are currently 712 Littles on a wait-list to be matched with a Big
- Once matched, 100% of Littles improve their grades, 96% are less likely to resort to violence to solve conflicts, 74% improve their future outlook, and almost 50% are less likely to use drugs than their peers.
- It costs us $2500 to start a match, and $1000 per year to maintain one. This money pays for professionally trained staff to run background checks, interview Bigs/Littles and their families, train Bigs, and to stay on top of the match as it progresses.
