BENEFITING: UDistrict Foundation
ORGANIZER: THE IRONMAN FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Jun 29, 2014
IronMan CDA 2014 will be my first attempt at completing an IronMan, and I am so excited to be participating! I was born and raised just 40 miles from where I'll be competing this Summer, so I have chosen to raise funds for a local foundation here in the Inland Northwest: the UDistrict Foundation.
The UDistrict Foundation's mission is to "encourage kids to live healthy lives and inspire them to dream great dreams." Established in 2006 and located in Spokane, Washington, the UDistrict Foundation provides Fitness and Fun Camps, a Family Challenge, sports training scholarships, PE school programs, a Summer Series Fun Run, and the Mentorship Program. By providing coaching and teaching kids how to make smart nutrition choices, stay active and set attainable goals, the UDistrict Foundation hopes to inspire young people throughout the community to aim high and take control of their lives by making healthy choices early in life. The team at UDistrict PT and the UDistrict Foundation believe in the power of encouragement, the value of teamwork, and strengthening the connection between health and happiness.
This charity is close to my heart because of the impact I have seen it make on young people. I have heard teens talk about the fact that they only exercise when UDistrict trainers come to their school and run a PE/Fitness class with them twice a week. I have had the privilege to work with the mentoring program and witness firsthand the excitement experienced when a successful match is made between mentor and child. I know that the efforts made by the UDistrict Foundation are making a difference, and I am honored to be able to contribute. Along my journey to IronMan, I hope to be a catalyst for change. Thank you for supporting me and the UDistrict Foundation!
