Michaela Fischer wrote -Hello and Good Day! Please, let us start by introducing ourselves. We are 10 students who are a part of the Career Opportunities in Health through Des Moines Central Campus. We partner with the Unitypoint Clinics and rotate through different portions of their hospitals. There are two different classes, the AM and the PM, each class is assigned to a different community service project and this year the afternoon class got Blank Children’s Hospital. Our plan is to put together a fundraiser similar to the Dance Marathons at Iowa and Iowa State. Ours would be COH Cause for the Kids. Through Central we have many different high schools represented. Our plan is to have families come and share their stories publicly on stage and possibly a video if they would like to make one. We would love for the families to stay and hang out for as much of the event day as they would like. We have several ideas that we are working through to make this a successful event. Some of the ideas are: a fashion show with the kids and get student athletes and possibly each of the school’s mascots, food being prepared and provided by our culinary arts students and our photography students setting up a photobooth. We really want to make this a school wide event. We will be trying to spread word and gain support through the community and raise money for Blank. The event will be held April 2nd 2016 from 9am-5pm in the Central Campus Commons Area. We intend on this being a fundraiser but also a day centered around the kids and their families as a day to forget about their illness and medicine and just be themselves. All money we raise will either be going to Blank life serve or we will be going out and buying toys and things off the wish list. We really appreciate any amount of donations or help we can get. If you know of any businesses that would be willing to donate any food, games, drinks, or money that would be an awesome way to help! We are willing to even go sit at a business and spread our cause.
