I've been training for the LA Marathon since October 2010. While running a marathon has been a personal goal of mine for some time, and I have enjoyed the experience of staying committed to the training, and looking forward to doing well on race day, I couldn't do this without taking the opportunity to support those in need. My Dad passed away in the 80s from cancer. Growing up near Boston, I always heard of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the Jimmy Fund (from all the Red Sox commercials, of course). I've always wanted to contribute to an organization that helps those in need, like my Dad, and like so many others. And maybe one day organizations like Dana-Farber will save the life of some little boy's father.
Please consider a donation to Dana-Farber. As I run all 26 miles (plus the 0.2), on March 20, 2011, I will be working towards achieving my personal goal, and I will also be thinking about my Dad, those that have donated, and all those that are being helped by your generosity.
