BENEFITING: Greater Washington Community Foundation
EVENT DATE: Jun 03, 2017
Dear friends and family:
On June 3rd, in Kensington Maryland, I am going to be running/walking in Colleen’s BA 5k. Colleen’s BA 5K was organized in memory of Colleen Mitchel, who was the daughter of a dear friend of mine and a classmate of my son, Tom, at Walter Johnson High School. Colleen was born with biliary atresia (BA) and died in 2013 at the age of 19 due to complications from liver disease, while awaiting a second liver transplant.
Every year for the past four years, Colleen’s family has organized Colleen’s BA 5K in an effort to discover the cause of biliary atresia and support other families whose children suffer from liver disease. In the past, this event has raised over $75,000. This year, we are vamping up the fundraising effort and hope to double our past fundraising goals by including individual fundraising as part of our effort.
It is my intention to not only finish this 5K in record time (!) but to personally raise over $500 for this worthy cause. This is where you come in. If you want to help me meet my goal, and support continued research for liver disease, go to my personal fundraising site and make your donation TODAY! No amount is too small. Your gift will be 100% tax deductible, and you will receive a receipt from the Community Foundation tor the National Capital Region (CFNCR). *
Thank you for your support of my effort.
