Colleen's Habitat for Humanity Global Village Trip
Organized by: Colleen Russell
EVENT DATE Jul 26, 2014
I am going on a Global Village trip at the end of July with Habitat for Humanity. I need your help to cover some of my costs and some of my team mates costs. I will be helping to build homes for a very deserving commuinty in El Salvador. Please help me build hope and homes with Habitat for Humanity.
Home to almost 6 million people, El Salvador is the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America. Still struggling with the consequences of a 12-year civil war and constantly affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes and tropical storms, almost 3 million Salvadorans live in inadequate housing.
In July of 2013, Habitat for Humanity affiliates across Maryland and Northern Virginia partnered with Habitat for Humanity El Salvador to provide much needed housing solutions in the El Barrial Community. El Barrial is located in Morazan, a department that suffered greatly during the civil war. The community is still in the process of rebuilding, but has formed a civic association that has already built a school, daycare and church.
You can be a part of this $648,000, 4 year project to provide 90 housing solutions by joining our trip or by donating! Check out the photos above to see photos of the first 10 brand new Habitat homes in El Barrial. Please consider donating and becoming one of our partners today!
