The mission of College Bound Dorchester is to equip students with the attitude, skills and experience to graduate from college and we are working towards a vision of transforming the neighborhoods of Dorchester through education. We serve more than 800 students every year from ages three months to 27.
College Bound Dorchester is honored to have six dedicated runners in the 2014 Boston Marathon raising much needed funds for our program. Each donation made to Team COLLEGE BOUND: DORCHESTER STRONG will directly support the work we do with Dorchester students though two areas—Prevention and Intervention.
Through our prevention model, we serve children three months to 13 years through high quality pre-school and after school programs, ensuring that students enter and advance through school at or above grade level and entire families have the expectation of college.
College Connections, College Bound Dorchester’s proven intervention program currently serves students ages 14 to 27 in four pathways: middle school students; traditional high school youth who are still enrolled in school but are at risk of dropping out; students who have dropped out of high school and seek to attain their GED and prepare for college; and students who face significant barriers to educational success due to being English Language Learners. College Connections’ students participate in targeted academic assistance and mentoring groups to ensure that they attain both the education and social-emotional skills necessary to succeed in school through college graduation.
Thank you for your support and commitment to the students in our program!
