College Possible is nationally-growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization making college admission and success possible for low-income students through an intensive curriculum of coaching and support. In 2010-11 we serve nearly 7,400 students through our programming through locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Our services include (1) ACT/SAT test preparation; (2) college application assistance; (3) financial aid consulting; (4) guidance in the college transition; and (5) support toward college degree completion.Using an innovative application of the AmeriCorps service model, students meet with their College Possible AmeriCorps “coach” in peer groups of 10-15 twice a week after school for two years, resulting in a minimum of 320 hours of time on task during their junior and senior years of high school. After high school graduation, students become part of our college program as they work toward degree completion and workforce readiness. Since our founding in 2000, College Possible students have increased their ACT test score by an average of 21%; 98% of our students have earned admission to college; 93% have gone on to enroll; and nearly 80% of those students are working toward their college degree or have already graduated.
