Thank you for visiting my 2015 fundraiser page for the Team iMentor Challenge!
I am currently in my third year with my mentee Mark and happy to report that graduated from KIPP College Prep in the summer of 2014 and is currently a freshman at Seton Hall University in West Orange NJ!! Mark and I have been matched for the past three years and it has been amazing to see his progress. From the early days in our relationship, Mark and I had a special bond. We both grew up in single parent homes, love making other people laugh, and share a deep passion for sports, and in particular the game of basketball!
One of the most amazing parts of the match has been watching Mark grow and mature over the past 3 years. When I first met Mark, he was bright but not always focused on school/academics. We slowly built trust with each other by sharing personal stories and experience and I saw that over time he began to listen to some of my advice, namely to take school seriously. Over the last two years, it has been amazing to watch him mature. Mark worked extremely hard his junior and senior years by taking AP courses and earned an academic scholarship to Seton Hall! A few weeks ago I met Mark before he moved into his dorm to start spring semester, he is so excited to be in college and is already loving the experience. I can't wait to see where he will end up in four years! I feel blessed to have the opportunity to mentor Mark as we have both grown tremendously since first meeting each other!
This is my fourth year raising funds for iMentor through Crowdrise. Over the past three years, with the assistance of many of those viewing this page, I was able to blow away my goals and raise over $7,500 for iMentor! My goal this year is to attempt to exceed last year's number, so please donate if at all possible!
My $2,500 target goal if reached will be able to support three new mentor-mentee pairs for a full year! All donations make a difference!
Money is tight for everyone these days, but please know that your contributions (no matter how small) will go directly towards helping students like Mark find mentors to help them achieve their goals and realize their potential.
If you made it this far down the page (thanks!) but are not able to donate monetarily at this time, I ask that you do me a huge favor and spread the word to your networks! Twitter, FB, Pinterest, Instagram etc.. are all welcome
