As many of you know, I am an iMentor mentor to Crystal. iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions.
I’ve had the great opportunity to be matched with Crystal for the past 2 and a half years. Crystal is currently at Aveda Institute pursuing her license in Esthiology. She loves helping others and is very happy providing a relaxing and rejuvinating experience for her clients. Crystal loves what she is doing and she will be graduating in March!
I had the unique opportunity to have a facial from her during her client hours and I was able to see, first hand, that she is very passionate about her work and will do very well in the spa world when she graduates. I will continue to work with her on finding a job and setting future goals for continued growth. It has been amazing getting to support her through her transition from high school to beauty school and I am proud to have this opportunity to let you into my world as a mentor!
Please sponsor my 3 year commitment to Crystal by donating to my page today. It costs $1,000 per year to support each pair and ensure they have access to quality curriculum, programming, technology, and resources. Every contribution will help support more mentor-mentee pairs like Crystal and me.
iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower students in low-income communities to graduate high school, succeed in college, and achieve their ambitions. Students and mentors work one-on-one through iMentor’s online and in-person curriculum to navigate the college application process and build critical skills linked to college success. In New York City, iMentor partners with public schools to ensure every student in the school receives a mentor.
Since 1999, iMentor has connected 11,000 students in New York City with mentors, and will match more than 2,400 mentor-mentee pairs this year. iMentor also provides its curriculum, technology, and best practices to nonprofits nationwide to help them run effective mentoring programs in the iMentor model.
