Collegiate Charities Drop the Puck USA
Organized by: Drop the Puck on Cancer
EVENT DATE Feb 26, 2016
In 2011, Drop the Puck was created. During 2013, Collegiate Charities, LLC assumed promotional rights to the non-profit fundraiser. Since the beginning, Collegiate Charities Drop the Puck has been dedicated to the raising of funds through an annual hockey event by various Greek College Fraternities.
The event started with Fraternities at Indiana University and, in 2014, has spread to various Universities around the United States, including the University of Minnesota (Power Play on Cancer), University of Missouri (Slap Shot on Cancer), University of Michigan (Freeze the Puck) and the University of Miami (of Ohio). During 2016, our expansion continues as we start new (1st year) events at North Dakota, Nebraska, Northwestern and DePaul. Most of the proceeds raised at Drop the Puck events are donated to the American Brain Tumor Association ("ABTA"), out of Chicago.
The combination of all the Universities is now developing into a National Event of Greek Classic -- Collegiate Charities Drop the Puck USA. The various Fraternities around the U.S. are working together to raise funds for early cancer detection and finding a cure . Each event (the various Universities) are independently designating where their funds will be distributed. In 2012 and 2013, the Indiana University (Drop the Puck IU), raised over $ 70,000 for various organizations, including over $50,000 donated to the American Brain Tumor Association. During 2015, Drop the Puck IU donated over $ 51,000 to the ABTA.
