If you told me back in 2012, that I would lose a member of my family to colon cancer and run a marathon by age 24, I would've called you crazy.
But it's 2016, and it's time to face facts. Colon cancer is one of the most prevalent and deadly cancers out there, and it doesnt care what color you are, where you grew up, how much money you have, etc. Colon cancer is scary, and doesn't always knock on your front door letting you know it's in your body. That's why getting a colonscopy every 5 years, no matter how uncomfortable, is a no brainer.
I'm running the 2016 NYC Marathon in honor of my mother, who passed away in 2013 from colon cancer. I'm also running in honor of all those moms, dads, grandparents, sisters, brothers, friends, co-workers that are battling any type of cancer, as well as those who have passed from any form of cancer. I'm running in hopes of seeing a world where cancer treatment is advanced to the point of perfection by the end of my life.
The Colon Cancer Challenge Foundation has had a pro-found impact on my life since my mom passed, and numerous charity runs and rides @ Swerve Fitness have shown me just how many people have been affected by this type of cancer. It is my hope that you will donate to their cause to provide funding for treatment of colon cancer.
