Sometimes being a hero isn't about the flashy capes and superhuman powers but rather the feasible and actual direct impact one can, through simple measures, make on their own community.
Every year, various chapters of the American Red Cross partake in the annual Heroes Campaign, a way for the community to recognize its own "heroes" who live amongst us all. The "heroes," are distinguished volunteers who pledge to raise a set amount of money for the purpose of this campaign. The funds raised by this campaign are allocated towards the American Red Cross' different methods of local outreach, whether that be through disaster relief or various other local programs and services.
As a volunteer representative of this campaign, I, along with other members of the Augusta Chapter of the American Red Cross' Youth Board, and as "heroes," have pledged to individually raise money to impact this campaign and the different enterprises that come to benefit the community as a whole.
With my personal goal of $1000 set, I hope to raise charitable funds either close to or, better yet, exceeding this value and would appreciate your gracious contribution! Collectively, and through the positive impact of this campaign, we can make the community a better place and pledge to become our own breed of "hero."
