BENEFITING: FLYING HORSE FARMS
EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2012
I am the club director for Columbus Runner's running club in Columbus, Ohio. As a runner, I wanted to contribute to something worthwhile to make my running count for something bigger than me. Beyond my running goals, I wanted a way to support the 16,000+ seriously ill kids in Ohio who could benefit from a one of a kind week long camp. The camp is called Flying Horse Farms .
Located on 200 acres of rolling hills just outside Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Flying Horse Farms is where children with serious illnesses come to experience the magic of camp. For a week at a time, being sick takes a backseat to simply being a kid. And fun is priority number one. With a complete medical staff and state of the art facility, Flying Horse Farms can take great care of their campers so they can concentrate on having fun.
My goal is to generate awareness and help raise money to fund a week long camp adventure for a child in need. Right here. Right now, and right in our own backyard. For every $2500 I raise, a child in need can spend one week at camp.
In June 2012, I will be running 50 miles (in one shot!) from my local elementary school to flying horse farms to deliver a symbolic check representing all the money collected through crowdrise. I am getting the local schools and churches involved as a way to raise awareness of childhood illnesses and the good deeds of the camp. I will have a full support team including a law enforcement escort, and a road support team.
If you would like to join this cause or run with me and are in the Central Ohio area, please let me know. I would love your help!
Please consider helping me out. No donation is too small and will get me closer to my goal. Thank you!
