Life expectancy for people 65 years of age and older is expanding rapidly and the number of people in this age group is expected to double over the next 35 years in Central Ohio.  30% of seniors between the ages of 65-74 experience hearing loss.  As the third most common chronic health condition, hearing loss compromises the health and well-being of seniors in our community.  Our Older Adult Outreach program addresses the growing need for accessible senior hearing health care services in our community.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 17.9% of persons with a disability were employed in 2016, compared with 65.3% for those without a disability.  The Columbus Speech & Hearing Center’s Careers for People with Disabilities (CPD) program assists individuals in Central Ohio with all types of disabilities to obtain and maintain competitive employment.  CPD boasts a job retention rate of more than 85% for individuals placed through the program in 2016.
