BENEFITING: Northwest Center
EVENT DATE: Jun 22, 2013
Stand up comedian and actor Brian Moote is running his first (and maybe last) marathon to raise money and awareness for the Northwest Center Kids because they are an amazing organization that works to accomplish a mission Brian cares about. Brian grew up in the NW and worked in Special Education for both the Seattle and Kent school districts from 2005 to 2009. Brian is currently a professional touring comedian and is a regular cast member on MTV's hit new prank show "Money From Strangers." He was also featured as a stand up comedian on the USA Network.
Brian has never run a marathon and plans on running the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon live on Ustream. Why? Because he thinks giving people the chance to see how miserable he is during this race will be hilarious and... He is probably underestimating how hard running this race will be. Here is a little about the Northwest Center Kids form their website: http://nwcenterkids.org/index.html.
We serve children with and without developmental disabilities from 6 weeks to 12 years of age in our inclusive programs:
- Early Intervention Services: serving eligible children until their 3rd birthday
- Inclusive early learning programs and full day childcare
- Before and after school care and summer camp
We believe that all children are entitled to high quality childcare in a nurturing environment. We believe play, independent thinking, problem solving and self-initiated experiences are keys to healthy development. We honor diversity of all kinds—including the abilities, races, ethnic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, marital status or ages of kids and their families. We strive to be culturally sensitive to all families, respecting their values and sharing the diverse population we serve.
