ComeWrightHome. Part 2
Organized by: Brett Wright
Hey everyone, one last update. I am home!! It's been a difficult journey but I am home now and spending long awaited time with my family in St. Louis. After one day of what was supposed to be a week trip in Spain, I ended up spending 37 days in Spanish national prison, and the next eight months on probation without a passport and unable to leave. We finally made a plea bargain to resolve the matter and allow me to come home. Between personal damages and attorney's fees, the total amount came out to be nearly $20,000. Add that to previous costs and legal fees, and these events have amounted to a total of nearly $40,000.
As you can imagine, this was much more than we expected. Furthermore, we were forced to pay the full amount of the plea bargain upfront. Fortunately, we secured a loan that helped us do that. Now we are faced with the heavy task of paying that back. Despite all that has happened within the past nine months, life has continued and so have the bills. I earned what I could while in Spain, and have already begun searching for a job here, as I have lost my previous job.
My family and I have already received an outpouring of support throughout this ordeal, and I met some amazing people while in Spain. For that we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. I ask anyone who is able to help us one last time. Please donate/share to help us pay off the plea bargain and help put this in the past. Anything helps. Thank you.
